WHAT IS SAME DAY TOOTH EXTRACTION AND DENTURES?
Many patients have some natural teeth that still need to be extracted before a denture can be inserted. In a number of such cases, you can get the denture inserted on the same day when you get your teeth extracted. This type of denture is called an immediate denture. An immediate denture will allow you to avoid the embarrassment of living without teeth. We begin the preparation for this procedure before your teeth are extracted.
We will take impressions of your existing teeth and gums to create accurate duplicates for placement after tooth removal. At your extraction appointment, your immediate dentures will be inserted creating a natural smile you can be proud of.
Immediate Denture Process
The process of preparing immediate dentures is bit different from that of preparing traditional dentures. Because, you will get tooth extraction and dentures on the same day, the dentures have to be prepared before your teeth are pulled. The immediate denture process follows the following three steps.
- The first step is to take impressions of your mouth. In most situations a measure of your bite can be done during this appointment.
- Unlike traditional dentures, the “try-in” step is not included. We would not be able to set teeth in wax and have you try them in with your natural teeth.
- The final step is to have your immediate denture inserted at the time of your extractions.
